Khabarovsk city of military glory

The 166-year history of Khabarovsk is forever connected with the defense of the Fatherland. It originally emerged as a military settlement on the border and became a Russian outpost in the Far East. In the military biography of the Far Eastern capital - the struggle against the Japanese invaders in the 20s. Khabarovsk also became front-line during the conflict on the Chinese Eastern Railway (1925-1928). Far Eastern divisions rode west from the banks of the Amur to beat the Nazis in 1941-1945. Soldiers and sailors left here to smash the Japanese militarists in 1945. From Khabarovsk to Moscow, the text of the «Act of Japan's surrender» was transferred. In our city, the International Trial of Japanese War Criminals was held and the final point was set in the Second World War.

The awarding of the honorary title «City of Military Glory» to the city of Khabarovsk is a restoration of historical justice, a tribute to the memory of the heroes - defenders and a mandate to the young successors of the glorious traditions of our Motherland.

By the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation № 1468 of November 3, 2012, the city of Khabarovsk was awarded the honorary title of the Russian Federation «City of Military Glory» for the courage, resilience and mass heroism shown by the defenders of the city in the struggle for the freedom and independence of the Fatherland.
