Defeat of Germans near Moscow had huge value. On fields of Moscow area the myth about invincibility of the German army was dispelled.

For outstanding merits before the Homeland, mass heroism and courage, and in commemoration of the 20 anniversary of the Victory, on May 8, 1965 the honorary title «Hero town» with handing of an award of Lenin and the medal «Gold Star» is appropriated to the city of Moscow.
