Silvia Voskova (1920 - 1944) was a daughter of a prominent revolutionary Semyon Voskov (1889 - 1920), a hero of the Great October Socialist Revolution, who also took part in the Russian Civil War as a member of the Red Army. He died of typhus and was buried with honors at the memorial cemetery of The Field of Mars (St. Petersburg). There are streets named after Semyon Voskov in St. Petersburg and in a town of Sestroretsk.

In 1937, upon graduating from high school, Silvia Volkova entered the Electrotechnical Institute named after V.I. Ulyanov (Lenin), presently known as the Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University (LETI). In January, 1942 she did the theoretical course with a degree in wired communications and was assigned to shipyards “with the right to defend her specialist graduation thesis in the time following.” Silvia refused to be evacuated to the Big Land and leave besieged Leningrad. She entered special radio courses of the intelligence unit of the Baltic Fleet and graduated with a degree in radio operating. In August, 1942 she joined the Department, which was in charge of training and controlling special reconnaissance and sabotage units, operating behind enemy lines. She was engaged in training radio operators.

On December 22, 1942 she was awarded the medal For the Defense of Leningrad.

Over 1943 she repeatedly requested her command to reassign her from the instructor category to the category of operational personnel engaged in special missions behind enemy lines. In July, 1943 her request was granted.

She received specialized training for personnel operating behind enemy lines.

In February, 1944 her reconnaissance and sabotage group was parachuted behind enemy lines with a special mission. Being engaged in this mission, Silvia Voskova died a hero.

Silvia Voskova was posthumously awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2-nd Class by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 10, 1965.
