The memorial call sign dedicated to the Hero of the Great Patriotic War, a native of the Ulyanovsk region, Victor Ivanovich Ermeneev.

On June 20, 1944, an anti-aircraft gun under the command of Sergeant Ermeneev V. I. protected the column of our troops at the crossing. 24“Junkers” dived in tiers. All wounded, remaining of the seven men of the crew, he continued to conduct aimed fire. Then, after dropping 48 bombs near the gun, and losing two aircraft, the “Junkers” retreated.

For this feat, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, by its decree of November 18, 1944, awarded him the title of “Hero of the Soviet Union”.

Victor Ivanovich took part in the battles for Poland, Romania and Hungary. Participated in the historic artillery assault on Berlin. After the victory, he served for a year and a half in Germany.

After the war, he lived and worked in his native village, where one of the streets named after him. Victor Ivanovich died in 1986, but his fellow villagers still remember him and his glorious feat. The school in Sabakaevo named after the Hero.

They installed a bust in his home village near which rallies held on Victory Day. Many sporting events are held here and bring together not only residents of Avrali, but from nearby settlements, including Dimitrovgrad.
