During the Great Patriotic War, the Nazi invaders dreamed of capturing the city of Grozny, due to the fact that in those years it was the largest center in the Soviet Union for supplying the entire front with oil products.

During the Great Patriotic War, the Germans had a great strategic plan, which was destined to fail. They separated two separate army groups from their huge grouping called the "South", which they called the letters" A "and"B".

The plan of the fascists, as you know, was a failure. On the outskirts of the city of Grozny in the autumn of 1942, very difficult battles unfolded, which completely exhausted the Germans and forced them to retreat back to the North.

These Grozny events served as the beginning of the liberation of the entire North Caucasus from the fascists. The battle for the Caucasus lasted 440 days. Grozny has become a key point and is now a City of Military Glory.

At the height of the Great Patriotic War, by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of February 6, 1942, the Grozny Oil Refinery was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, which testified to the huge contribution of the Grozny residents to strengthening the defense capability of the state.

The assignment of the high title of "City of Military Glory" to Grozny is a joyful and long-awaited news for the residents of the republic.

The North Caucasus Parliamentary Association and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia provided support to the region in this matter. The head of State Vladimir Putin also noted his approval for awarding the title of "City of Military Glory" to Grozny in 2013. And already at the next memorial watch in the city of Staraya Russa, the president of the country finally announced his decision.

Back in April 2015, it became known that the list of Cities of Military Glory in the North Caucasus has expanded to four. To Malgobek, Nalchik and Vladikavkaz, Grozny was added.

On June 22, 2015, the Kremlin hosted a ceremony of awarding certificates confirming the assignment of this knowledge to the city of Grozny.

According to various sources, more than 40 thousand Chechens and Ingush went to the front in the Great Patriotic War. Only among the heroic defenders of the Brest fortress were at least 300-hundreds of people from Chechen-Ingushetia.

"City of Dreams" or "Capital of the Future".

This is what the residents of the republic usually called Grozny. Now that's in the past. From now on, the capital will have a new and legitimate title – "City of Military Glory".
