In total, during the years of the Great Patriotic War, the Guard Captain Shamanov made 240 successful combat missions and sank 8 enemy transports.
Since 1948, Major I.G. Shamanov has been in reserve. He returned to civil aviation, but in 1956, for health reasons, left flight work. He lived in the hero city of Moscow, worked as the head of the laboratory at the Moscow Aviation Institute. Died on March 18, 1982. Buried in Moscow at the Khimki cemetery.
He was awarded the Order of Lenin, four Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st degree, and medals.
One of the central streets of the city of Pionersky in Kaliningrad region is named after him.
