KALACH-ON-DON - the city of MILITARY GLORY|
During the Great Patriotic War, about 10 thousand inhabitants of Kalach-on-Don fought with the Nazis in the ranks of the Red Army.
In the center of the city on the Square of Fallen Fighters in the Park of Memory is a mass grave 1267 Red Army soldiers are buried in it. On the territory of the Kalachevsky municipal district there are 59 brotherly graves, where 5137 people are buried. Sixteen streets are named after heroes.
03/25/2010 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation "For courage, resilience and mass heroism shown by the defenders of the city in the struggle for freedom and independence of the Fatherland ..." the city of Kalach-on-Don was awarded the honorary title of the Russian Federation "City of Military Glory".
