|At the end of 1940, at the military conscription, Alexander Podstanitsky ended up in the Omsk flight school. At the beginning of World War II, he was sent to the 42nd Aviation Regiment of the 36th Long-Range Aviation Division as an air gunner-radio operator. For distinction in battles he received the Order of the Red Star. On June 28, 1942, he died in an air battle near the village of Korotysh near Orel. He was buried after the war in a mass grave in the village of Korotysh.|
