|Shanina Roza Yegorovna (April 3, 1924-January 28, 1945) was a Soviet single sniper of a separate platoon of female snipers of the 2nd rifle Battalion of the 1138th Rifle Regiment of the 184th Dukhovshchinsky Red Banner Rifle Division of the 3rd Belorussian Front, a knight of the Orders of Glory of the II and III degrees-the first female sniper and the first serviceman of the 3rd Belorussian Front to be awarded this award. Known for her ability to shoot accurately at moving enemy targets, Rosa Shanina recorded 59 (75) confirmed enemy soldiers and officers killed, including 12 snipers. Despite being in combat for less than a year, the Allied newspapers called Shanina " the invisible terror of East Prussia."»|
