Alexandrov contributed to the great Victory of the Soviet people! During the Great Patriotic War, 26 thousand Alexandrovites went to fight (half did not return), 9 of them were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union: P. I. Galin, N. P. Gusev, P. S. Dokuchaev, F. A. Ermakov, N. G. Molev, A. A. Perfiliev, I. I. Proshin, A. P. Chulkov and S. M. Shuvalov. More than 10 thousand Alexandrovites were awarded the medal "For Valiant Labor in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945".

During the war, the railway and transport hub of Alexandrov worked smoothly, supplying the front with weapons and ammunition. In the Alexandrovsky district, 8 hospitals were deployed, which received tens of thousands of wounded soldiers, many of whom were put on their feet.

In 1932, radio factory No. 3 moved from Moscow to Alexandrov, which marked the beginning of the development of the radio engineering industry in the city, which later became the leading one in the country. During the war, the Alexander Radio Factory produced radio stations for the needs of the Soviet army. Every second tank at the front was equipped with an ARZ radio station, for which the plant's staff was awarded the Order of the Great Patriotic War of the First Degree.
