"Squadron commander of the 116th Fighter Aviation Regiment (295th Fighter Aviation Division, 17th Air Army, 3rd Ukrainian Front) Captain Pantelkin AA by mid-January 1945 made 270 sorties (reconnaissance of enemy troops and hunting - 26, covering ground troops - 84, escort of attack aircraft and bombers - 160).

Participated in 49 air battles, personally shot down 16 enemy aircraft. By assault actions and bombing, he destroyed and damaged 5 tanks, 30 vehicles with military supplies, set fire to 3 railway echelons and destroyed up to 150 enemy soldiers and officers. Led by Captain A. A. Pantelkin, the squadron carried out 517 sorties from March 1944 to January 1945. 29 enemy planes were shot down in air battles. 6 tanks, 67 cars, 2 fuel tanks, 10 railway wagons, 3 ammunition and fuel depots were destroyed and damaged by assault actions and bombing, up to 580 enemy soldiers and officers were destroyed".

By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated August 18, 1945, Captain Pantelkin Anatoly Alexandrovich was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union for his skilful command of the squadron, exemplary performance of combat missions of the command and heroism and courage shown at the same time.

A. A. Pantelkin died a brave death while performing a combat mission on March 14, 1945 near Budapest (Hungary). He was buried in the cemetery of the Hungarian village of Haddock[6].

By the time of his death, he had completed 306 sorties, conducted 56 air battles, and personally shot down 19 enemy aircraft.
