|My homeland is a small, rather young city of Leninogorsk, the birthplace of twelve Heroes of the Soviet Union and three full holders of the Order of Glory of three degrees - Soldier Heroes of the Soviet Union. In total, about twelve thousand of our countrymen fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Almost six thousand people died defending their homeland, including my great-grandfather. Bright memory to them! In 1970, a monument to a Soviet Soldier was opened in our city and an Eternal Flame was lit in memory of those who did not return from the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War. The Eternal Flame was lit by Hero of the Soviet Union Sadriev Samat Salakhovich, who on the night of September 24-25, 1943 led an assault group to cross the Dnieper. Architect - Sokolov, sculptors - Gugorov and Bondarenko, the Alley of Heroes was located behind the Eternal Flame and merged with it into a majestic memorial complex.
