|Ivan Antonovich Leonov is the only pilot in the world (listed in the Guinness Book of Records), who flew on a combat aircraft without one hand during the Great Patriotic War. In 1943, during aerial reconnaissance and photography of the location of enemy troops near the city of Orel, the plane of Lieutenant I.A. Leonov was shot down, and the pilot himself was seriously injured: an enemy shell crushed his shoulder joint. Military doctors saved the brave pilot's life, but the left arm, shoulder joint and shoulder blade had to be amputated... In total, Leonov made one hundred and ten sorties at the front during the war. Half of them are without a hand. One-handed pilot participated in the liberation of Orsha, Minsk, Bobruisk, Lida. He ended the war near Koenigsberg.|
