In1942 Anapa was occupied by the Nazi invaders, and for a whole year the city experienced all the horrors of captivity. During the days of occupation, partisan detachments operated in the forests near the village of Gostagaevskaya and the village of Sukko. Soldiers of the Red Army and sailors from the Black Sea performed feats on the Anapa land. The legendary captain, Hero of the Soviet Union Dmitry Kalinin, who was buried by the enemies with all military honors, and Hero of the Soviet Union Suren Arakelyan, who repeated the feat of Alexander Matrosov, performed his immortal feat on the Anapa land. Soviet troops liberated the city on September 21, 1943, while fierce battles for the territory of the city took place at sea, on land and in the sky. During the Great Patriotic War, fierce battles took place in the Anapa area. Anapa had an important strategic position. Having captured the city, the Nazis tried to cut off the Crimea from our troops, where they planned to create a springboard for their troops aimed at conquering the Caucasus. The dedication of the people of Anapa contributed to the liberation of the Black Sea coast, and now Anapa is called the "city of military glory" |
