The memorial call sign RP78UR ("fortified area") is dedicated to the memory of the defenders of the northern borders of Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War, who held the defense in the KAUR - Karelian fortified area. The fortified area entered the fighting in September 1941, with the release of Finnish troops on the line of the "old" state border. Until June 1944 , the front on the defense lines of the Karelian fortified area was held unchanged , then the units of the fortified area occupied new frontiers during the offensive operation during the offensive of the Soviet army . Further, the fortifications of the fortified area were modernized and stood on combat duty until 1995. During the construction of each KAUR fortification, an emblem with the inscription "WE DO NOT WANT WAR, BUT WE ARE READY FOR BATTLE" was attached to one of the walls. |
