HERO OF TWO WARS
D.D. Lelyushenko met the Great Patriotic War as commander of the 21st tank corps and on June 28 he was already in battle. Dvinsk (Daugavpils) was recaptured from the Germans with a successful counterattack. Then there were battles on the Borodino field and near Mozhaisk, where Lelyushenko was again wounded. In January 1942 he was already a lieutenant general. As commander of the 1st Guards Army, he entered the Battle of Stalingrad, once again confirming his high title of Hero. And then there was also the Kursk Bulge and the command of the 4th Tank Army. Lelyushenko's tanks marched victoriously through the streets of Prague. He became an Army General, a Hero of Czechoslovakia and a Twice Hero of the Soviet Union.
Eternal Glory to the Heroes!
