Zelensky Gavriil Nikitovitch -a participant in the Great Patriotic War, a commander of a reconnaissance platoon, foreman.

He was born March 26, 1909 in the village of Kirpilskaya, Krasnodar Territory.

He was in the Red Army since June 1941. He fought on the Bryansk, Central, 1st Ukrainian and 1st Belorussian fronts.

For 9 months of 1943-1944, Zelensky's platoon never returned from a combat mission without a captured fascist. Moreover, the remarkable master of intelligence captured prisoners by order of the command in the place where it was required and when it was needed. On the personal account of ZELENSKY there are 61 prisoners, 130 destroyed soldiers and officers of the enemy, 2 blown up railway bridges, 2 destroyed headquarters of regiments, 400 horses and 1600 heads of cattle recaptured from the enemy.

On April 18, 1944, while performing a new combat mission in the Moschennaya station of the Kovel region, an enemy bullet struck down the famous master of intelligence and the bravest warrior.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 23, 1944, for the exemplary performance of combat missions of the command on the front of the struggle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown at the same time, foreman Zelensky Gavriil Nikitovich was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

He was buried in the village of Oblapy, Kovelsky district. A memorial sign was erected at the place of the death of the Hero.

The bas-relief of Zelensky is installed on the Memorial of Glory in the city of Kovel, on the Alley of Glory in the city of Korenovsk and the village of Kirpilskaya in the Krasnodar Territory.
