RP79MN - Mikhailovsky Offensive.

In the southern direction of the defense of Moscow, an important role was played by the operation to liberate the city of Mikhailov, the only city in the Ryazan region that the Wehrmacht troops managed to enter. On December 6, 1941, after a long defense, Soviet troops southeast of Moscow went on the offensive. In the zone of action of the 10th Army, commanded by Lieutenant General Philip Ivanovich Golikov, Soviet troops had a significant numerical superiority, but with a small amount of artillery and one incomplete battalion of tanks. The attack on Mikhailov began from the village of Poyarkovo, from a hill on which there now stands a monument - a bayonet growing out of the ground, directed towards Mikhailov. In the direction of the city, the offensive was developed, in particular, by the 1113th Infantry Regiment (330th Infantry Division) under the command of Major Andrei Petrovich Voevodin (1900–12/7/1941). During the stubborn battle that ensued on the outskirts of the city, Soviet troops managed to overcome enemy resistance and enter the city. The regiment commander, Major Voevodin, died heroically during the liberation of the city and posthumously received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. In honor of this feat, one of the city streets is named after A.P. Voevodin.

On the night of December 7, 1941, units of the 330th division captured the outskirts of Mikhailov, and the battle began to move towards the city center. The offensive developed with the support of artillery, fires illuminated the path for the advancing Soviet troops. The Germans, unable to withstand the onslaught, began to retreat across the bridge over the river. I'll get through and leave the city.

On December 7, 1941, the city of Mikhailov was completely liberated from the German invaders. The Germans, feeling the blow not only near Mikhailov, but also near Kashira, as well as in other directions, began to retreat.

The work of the station is dedicated to all the soldiers and workers of the rear of the Ryazan region, and in particular, the Skopin-Mikhailovsky offensive operation in December 1941; the strategic success achieved here, precisely on the southern flank of the defense of Moscow, played a very important role in the general context of the battle for Moscow. The Mikhailovsky offensive made it possible to ensure the usefulness of railway communications, which ultimately made it possible to transfer military units and military equipment from the industrial rear to the war fronts.
